Naval officer's saber, model 1853. Brass mounting with a hilt on a jointed arch joined by an openwork plate decorated with a naval anchor and interlacing. Curved quillon and finely chased cap. Filigreed horn spindle. Ringed ferrule for passing the lanyard. Slightly curved blade with gutter and throat. Drum leather with three brass fittings, Chappe decorated marine anchor, scallop shell sting France, second half of the 19th century.
