Small in-8°, brown morocco on aisle, large cold-stamped framing decoration on boards, double fleuron in center, ornate smooth spine, Greek-style headpieces, edges painted in color with coat of arms, traces of clasps (period binding). Collation: 306 ff. numbered: a-z8 + A-G8 + H10 + I8 + 2-78. Second book of the Odyssey (250 ff.) alone, with the life of Homer (56 ff.). Printer's mark on title. Text in Greek and italics, except for the preface, which is in Latin. Deficient edge of second plate; leather missing from exposed Greek headpieces; marginal wormholes in fine. This first Aldine edition "is difficult to find in good condition" (Brunet III, 269). COPY WITH ARMORIAL PAINTED EDGES.
