Large in-8°, midnight-blue half-maroquin with corners, filets edging the boards, smooth spine decorated, untrimmed (Mercier sr de Cuzin). An ornate title, 29 plates on chine collé, including a woodcut frontispiece and color map of the Île-de-France, seven steel-engraved out-of-text portraits after MEISSONIER,Tony FRANÇAIS, JOHANNOT, ISABEY, MEISSONIER STEINHEIL, and approximately 450 vignettes in the text. A copy with some of the characteristics of the PREMIER TIRAGE: the nine lines on page LII, as well as the medallion of Orrin Smith at the end of the large
of the large vignettes. A fine first-edition copy in a morocco binding by Cuzin. Ex-libris with the motto: "Admirer pour produire" ("To admire in order to produce").
