J. DAMON IMPORTANT STAINED GLASS WINDOW Colored... - Lot 422 - Lucien Paris
J. DAMON IMPORTANT STAINED GLASS WINDOW Colored glass, joined by lead, showing flowers in a stylized vase, on a colorless background, the upper part arched. Signed Damon at the bottom right. c. 1925. Framed in wood. 200 x 300 x 3 cm. The glass painter Jacques Damon took over in 1923 the workshop of Jacques Galland (1891-1922) located at 13, rue Verniquet in Paris. He was particularly productive during the interwar period, participating in particular in the superb stained glass windows of the Molitor pool in Paris, with Barillet, realizing those, exceptional, of the stand of Water and Forests to the Colonial Exhibition of 1931, those of the annex of the buffet of the buffet of the station of Lyon in Paris, on cards of Louis Brachet, the sumptuous window "La Cité" of the café of Harcourt in Paris and those of more of more than twenty churches in Picardy, often after cartoons of Rene Bour. He made many stained glass windows representing cities: Paris (especially Montmartre), New York, or exotic landscapes for private mansions. His creations were always very graphic and marked their time.
