UNIVERSAL EXHIBITION, PARIS 1889. ATTRIBUTED TO CHARLES TROTIN (1833-1904). MEDAL OF ASCENT OF THE EIFFEL TOWER. Copper with a golden patina, circular in shape, bearing the inscription, on the obverse: "Work began on January 27, 1887, the monument was inaugurated on May 6, 1889", accompanied by a representation of the Eiffel Tower (300 m) overlooking the Invalides (165 m), Notre-Dame (66 m), the Cathedral of Cologne (159 m), the Opera (58 m), the Great Pyramid (146 m), the Pantheon (83 m), St. Peter's of Rome (132 m), the Arc de Triomphe (45 m), the cathedral of Rouen (150 m), the Obelisk of Washington (169 m), and, on the reverse: "Souvenir de mon ascension au 1e étage de la Tour Eiffel, 1889". The cartel bears the engraved inscription added: "XIII Juillet". Usine Métallurgique Parisienne (Gustave Eiffel's factory in Levallois-Perret). Marked. Diam. 4 cm. In its wooden case. Diam. 5,4 cm.
