Pierre Deschodt - Biographical note
Born in 1927, Pierre Deschodt quickly became familiar with painting and music thanks to his family and friends. In particular, he met Max Ingrand and Jules Piel during the 1947 International Peace Jamboree.
Originally from Douai, he studied in Tournai before leaving for Paris to join the ENSAD, under the direction of Marcel Gromaire, who described his pupil as "an artist of the future, very gifted, sensitive, intelligent and hard-working".
He then joined Jean Lurçat's workshop and participated in the revival of the Aubusson Tapestry before joining the AA paper mill and the Musée de l'Homme.
In 1966, the town hall of Le Touquet commissioned a poster project from him, this town then became a central subject in his work.
Strongly influenced by the work of his contemporaries, the colors of the Opal Coast inspire him and give rhythm to his compositions.
Numerous Parisian galleries exhibited his work, notably Bernheim-Jeune in 1970, thus linking Pierre Deschodt to the School of Paris, whose work had adorned the walls of the gallery years earlier. He also participated several times in the Salon des Indépendants between 1976 and 1985.
He died in 2003, leaving behind him a body of colorful works that are typical of the expressionism of the 1970s.
