SIGN OF THE BRASSERIE "CHEZ JENNY", PARIS Neon letters forming the words "Brasserie Alsacienne", on cut metal frames fixed on metal rods. Height. 62 cm; Width. c. 1460/1500 cm; Depth. 11 cm. Missing neon lights, broken neon lights. PROVENANCE. Restaurant Chez Jenny, 39, boulevard du Temple, Paris, 3rd arrondissement. Closed in 2020. Created by Robert Jenny, the Chez Jenny brasserie was famous since 1932 for its traditional Alsatian dishes and almost as much for its décor. Its sauerkraut and its atmosphere attracted the whole of Paris, including celebrities such as Mistinguett, Django Rheinart, Lucienne Boyer and Ray Ventura before the war. Later Jean-Paul Belmondo, Léo Ferré, Silvia Kristel, Johnny Hallyday, Bertrand Tavernier came to party there.
