TABLE DU REFECTOIRE DU COLLÈGE SAINTE-BARBE, PARIS The rectangular top of white-gray marble, standing on two tapered cast-iron legs each on an octagonal base. c. 1900. Height. 73 cm ; Width. 160 cm ; Depth. 70 cm. Wear, rust. PROVENANCE. Collège Sainte-Barbe, 4, rue Valette, Paris, 5th arrondissement. The college, founded in 1460, was the oldest in Paris until its definitive closing to students in 1998. Gustave EIFFEL (1832-1923) was admitted to the Collège Sainte-Barbe, in 1843. As an adult, he designed the amphitheater. According to tradition, he even designed the furniture.
