Grand ballet Brighton at the Olympia Lithographed poster, signed and dated 90 in the plate. Imp. Paul Dupont, 4, rue du Bouloi, Paris. 1896. Tax stamp of the department of the Seine. 123 x 75.5 cm. Folds. In 1888, Joseph Oller, founder of the Pari Mutuel and the Moulin-Rouge, set up his roller coaster in the courtyard of a building overlooking 28, boulevard des Capucines, 8th arrondissement. The Prefect of Police, Henri Lozé, fearing that the wooden attraction would burn down, asked that it be closed. Oller proceeded to demolish it and had a two thousand seat theater built, the Olympia. The inauguration took place on April 11, 1893, with La Goulue, Loïe Fuller and Fregoli as the first stars.
