FRANÇOIS-THÉODORE RUHIERRE (1808-1884) Portrait of Maximilien-Marie-Isidore de Robespierre Bas-relief in medallion, in embossed copper, bearing the inscription: "The only torment of the righteous, in his last hour / And the only one I will be torn from then I will be torn / Is to see, in dying, the pale and dark envy / Distill on my forehead the opprobrium and infamy / To die for the people and be for the people and to be abhorred by them" (Maximilien Robespierre, 26 May 1794). 19,8 x 15,8 cm. Framed in molded wood painted in black. 31 x 27 cm. REFERENCES. A similar bronze medallion is kept in the collections of the Carnavalet Museum in Paris.
