NOMINATIVE PLATE OF THE RUE DE VIARMES Enamelled iron, rectangular in shape, bearing the inscription "rue de Viarmes" in white letters on a blue background, the green frame. Second half of the 19th century. 40 x 60 cm. PROVENANCE. This plaque was fixed outside a pavilion of the Halles Centrales de Paris along the rue de Viarmes. It bears the name of the provost of the merchants of Paris from 1758 to 1764, Jean-Baptiste de Pontcarré de Viarmes, who had the old wheat market, which had become a trade exchange, rebuilt. Demolition site of the Central Halls, 1971.
