GABRIEL-JEAN-ANTOINE DAVIOUD (1824-1881)
Pair of back to back bench consoles. Cast iron painted in brown, with an openwork baluster shape, decorated with the arms of Paris, scrolls and palmettes. They supported two seats and a wooden backrest. Founder: Fourment Houille et Compagnie, blast furnaces and foundries in the Val d'Osne. Dated 1875. This model was designed during the Second Empire by Gabriel-Jean-Antoine Davioud, architect, Inspector General of Architectural Works of the City of Paris, Chief Architect at the Promenades et Plantations department, then collaborator of Baron Haussmann and under the direction of engineer Adolphe Alphand, Chief Engineer at the Promenades de Paris department. 97 x 162 x 75 cm. PROVENANCE. This bench was next to the Halles Centrales in Paris. Demolition site of the Halles Centrales de Paris, 1971.
