BIDJAR CARPET Decorated with many medallions intertwined one - Lot 297
BIDJAR CARPET Decorated with many medallions intertwined one in the other, the first medallion blue sky, extended by two pendants is decorated with a second medallion on a red background with a herati pattern. This motif is composed of a rhombus formed of curved stems, enclosing a rosette and topped by a palmette at each vertex, repeated ad infinitum, with four falciform leaves next to each other. This design, which adorned the Herat carpets, to which it owes its name, is itself inscribed in a polylobed ivory medallion. The whole composition on a navy blue background is based on the Herati pattern. A pink border with a polychrome flower garland is framed by numerous counter-borders. Cotton warp and weft, wool velvet. Northwest Persia, circa 1930. 302 x 200 cm. Good condition.
