ALSACE POTASSE Enamelled plate for the counter... - Lot 389 - Lucien Paris
ALSACE POTASSE Enamelled plate for the counter of stores distributing Potasse d'Alsace products. Format: rectangular, flat, with chamfers. Space painted slate, allowed the merchant to write on two thirds of the plate. Process: stencil and screen printing. Illustration: stork facing right, Strasbourg Cathedral by Hansi (1873-1951). Lettering: white, on blue, white, red background. Enamel: Tolaque, Strasbourg-Hoenheim. 1951-1959. 50 x 75 cm. Good condition. As early as 1953, Émaillerie Alsacienne offered a new, less expensive support, the Tolaque plate, which was less durable, made of lighter sheet metal, coated with enamel paint at 150°C and covered with a varnish. This support, linked to the development of trade and consumption, was intended for companies, which were increasingly numerous and could not afford advertising campaigns via the support of enamelled plates.
