LU Superb and very rare lithographed poster... - Lot 260 - Lucien Paris
LU Superb and very rare lithographed poster illustrated with the "Petit Écolier", for the Lefèvre-Utile (LU) biscuits. The artisanal pastry shop Lefèvre-Utile, created in 1846 by Jean-Romain Lefèvre and his wife Isabelle Utile on rue Boileau in Nantes, offered "Reims style" cookies. In 1882, their son Louis Lefèvre-Utile bought the company and industrialized the production. He settled on the quays on the banks of the Loire. In 1886, he created the famous Petit-Beurre aux 52 dents, as 52 weeks, whose success was never denied. Our poster is the second version of the "Petit Écolier" poster, after the smaller one from 1897. This poster, specially published for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, is the only one of its kind in this large format. The colours are very different from the version of the 1930s printed by Daude Frères. Illustration: Firmin Bouisset (1859-1925) Print: L. Serre & Cie Paris, (Printer in Paris rue du Terrage from 1924-1937). Circa 1924-1937. 180 x 125 cm. Very good condition, framed.
