Georges WOLINSKI (1934-2015)
The Palladium Bus Ink and white gouache on paper, signed below right. Mounted on paper. Annotation "red" with white gouache repentance. 39 x 60 cm. We recognize Wolinski, the singer Antoine, Fidel Casto, Lenin, etc. This very beautiful drawing is one of Wolinski's first as part of his collaboration with the Hara Kiri Journal which was just beginning. In the early 1960s, James Arch, a young French businessman, had the idea of setting up a bus system that would allow young people from the suburbs to go to Parisian discos. On September 30, 1965, he created his own nightclub, 6 Fontaine Street, and adopted the name Bus Palladium, after the name of the famous New York club, the Palladium. He quickly became famous thanks to the arrival of Salvador Dalí and the arrival of renowned artists of the time, such as the Beatles.
