AMPHORA WITH "DOUBLEEN" NECK AND BLACK FIGURES Ornamented, on side A, with a banquet scene featuring Dionysus surmounted by the two letters ΣΟ and, on side B, with maenads and a dancing satyr. The neck is decorated with three inverted palmettes; double handles are black-glazed on the outside. The decoration, framed by palmettes, rests on a red line. Under the handles: linked palmettes and lotus flowers. At the bottom of the body: lines of dots and radiating edges. Flat black-glazed foot with circular red line and molded rim. The inner part is reserved and ornamented. Black-glazed orange clay with white and red highlights. Greek art, Attica, early 5th c.B.C. Attributable to the Diosphos Painter (c. 495-480 B.C.E.)/or Dot-frame class/ouentourage du Peintre de la ligne rouge. H. 21 cm. Visible cracks and restorations; restored in 2000 by G.P. Nadalini.
